Wildcrafting Research Project

Where the Lilies Bloom

Look up the following herbs and find their modern uses, habitat, etc.

Use the resources below to find:

  • Scientific Name and Habitat
  • Medicinal and Other Uses
  • Part of the Plant Used and Appearance

* Include a sketch of the plant.

Create a chart in Excel with the herbs listed below on the left and a column for each bulleted aspect: Scientific Name and Habitat, Medicinal and Other Uses, and Part of the Plant Used and Appearance. Use a separate sheet of blank, unlined paper for your sketches. You can sketch more than one plant on each sheet of unlined paper that you need.

Foxglove

Ginseng

Goldenseal

Snakeroot

Lobelia

Lady Slipper

Ginger

Once you have completed your chart, use the information to answer the following questions. Use complete sentences.

What items would you want with you to survive on your own for a period of weeks? What would you need? How much? How would you get it if funds were limited?
